Bleach!

We had a ton of fun making these
My roomie and I bleached a lot of our clothing after finding this post (http://blog.freepeople.com/2011/03/guest-blog-post-diy-bleach-tie-dye/) on free people.  A great success and a big mess.  I'd do it again in a heart beat.

It's been a year...

Joshua Tree last Super Bowl weekend 2010

It's been a year now since I have been to Joshua for some camping and climbing.  That is WAY to long if you ask me.  These photos are from that trip.  It has been a long time, but Joshua has been on my mind and I figured I would share my thoughts on our experience.

The weather was good during the day.  No wind, but had to wear a long sleevie despite all the climbing.  During the night was a whole other story.  It was freezing and VERY windy.  Our tent despite our bodies, and large rocks placed in the tent, the tent kept lifting off the ground.  It was crazy!  Needless to say that part was not very enjoyable.  My suggestions, if you do go during late January, bring a tent that does not come up off the ground too high and bring some serious sleeping bags, not your Wal-mart sleepie you took to your friends houses in middle school for sleep overs.

The climbing was excellent.  (Of course, it's Joshua!!!) What else do I need to say?  If you have never climbed Joshua- bring some bloody athletic tape.  Or you will a bloody mess on your hands- literally.  The rock is is a type of granite called quartz monzonite.  It contains a lot of crystals and is really gritty and hard on the hands.

Ratatouille

Yes, I watched Disney's Ratatouille and HAD to see what this dish was all about.  DELICIOUS!
Tomatoes, zucchini, onion, egg plant, mushrooms, green bell pepper, a little thyme, a little parsley, and a lot of garlic.   Layered the bottom of the pan with crushed garlic and sliced eggplant, and lined up everything else on top.  Drizzle some olive oil on top and bake in the over for a little bit.

I have horrible knives- awful.  I couldn't get the veggies sliced as thin as I wanted, until I used my cheese slicer...  It worked like a charm!  Perfect slices and super fast too.  I only had to suffer through the tomatoes, but I can't complain.  This dish was great, rich with a lot of flavor.  All garden grown produce from a client of mine too (Thank you if you ever happen upon this!)

Nutella Hot Chocolate

I have been spending way to much time on pinterest.  That said, look what I found during my wonderings!
I discovered a Nutella hot chocolate recipe (http://www.thehungryhousewife.com/2010/12/nutella-hot-chocolate.html)  Thank you very much Hungry House Wife!

Unfortunately I did not have milk, nor the recipe on hand when I choose to make this delicious drink.  So here is my version, hope you like it!

1 and 1/2 tablespoon Nutella
1 teaspoon coco powder
3/4 cup almond milk (vanilla or original, depending on how much sugar you want to consume)
1/4 cup water
A pinch of salt
Three marsh mellows and a little caramel sauce if you'd like!

Surfer series

I seem to have taken a fancy to painting surfer scenes on these cool shaped canvas.  I have painted all three of these in a span of a year.  I find it interesting to see the differences in each one, especially considering I have not had the time to paint a lot this year; but I'm still seeing quite a bit of improvement or approach in technique to each one.  What do you think the order is?  Post a comment numbering the order you think I painted them in!

At least one of these are for sale on Etsy too!  If the one you would like is not posted up, post a comment and let me know, I'll post another.
